Donald P. Sterling Makes Bid for 4th District Commissioners Seat

Dear Friend

My name is Donald P. Sterling and I am running for Citrus County Commissioner District 4. I am running because our county government should and could be more efficient and more accountable than it currently is.

Unfortunately for the citizens of our county, the cold hard facts speak to the irresponsible nature of our elected officials. The decisions they make effect you, me, and our families. Living in and having owned a business in Citrus County, and from talking to people at local restaurants, festivities and in their homes, I have decided that we deserve a county commissioner that is truly in tune with the residents here.

These major concerns of mine come directly from listening to you and your neighbors, and my own personal convictions. I pose these questions to you: Should our elected officials stop wasteful spending? Should government be run the same way the rest of us run our homes and businesses? Was it wrong to spend 2.9 million dollars of our money for a private road that goes into a residential area, and can be used for free? Was it wrong to give 16 thousand dollar severance pay to an employee who quit his job without notice? Should our elected official serve the public and not just the special interests? Should Citrus County have a more diversified means of support for those of us who still have to work and support a family? [More Jobs!] With our aging population could we use more accessible and affordable health care?

If you answered yes to these questions you’re not alone. An overwhelming amount of Citrus county residents has told me the same thing. I don’t claim to have all the answers but I have surrounded myself with those of you who do. And if you support and stand behind me, together we can turn things around. I’m asking you for your vote on August 24, 2010.
